Sean Diddy Combs Receives More Than Four Years in Prison

Rap entrepreneur Sean “Diddy” Combs was handed a 50-month prison sentence by Judge Arun Subramanian on Friday after being convicted in July of transporting people for purposes connected to prostitution.

Combs, age 55, heard the judge’s decision at the conclusion of a dramatic hearing at the Manhattan federal courthouse, which drew national attention and ended months of proceedings against the famed music producer.

Prosecutors had pressed for an 11-year term, arguing that Combs’ pattern of behavior had hurt numerous individuals. His defense team countered with a request for 14 months, highlighting his philanthropic contributions and positive impact on his community.

During the sentencing, Combs tearfully admitted his wrongdoing, describing his past conduct as “shameful and sick,” and offered apologies to those hurt by his actions.

Although he was not convicted of the more serious racketeering and trafficking offenses that could have brought a much harsher penalty, Combs faces additional conditions including a significant financial penalty and government oversight even after his release. With credit for time already served in pretrial detention, he could be eligible for reduced time based on good behavior, but will remain incarcerated into 2029 unless the decision is overturned or reduced on appeal.
