THE NEW BUNDESLIGA BALL IS ALREADY CAUSING A STIR!
Adidas’ new Torfabrik match ball, introduced for the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga, is receiving very different reactions from players. Goalkeepers are reportedly unhappy with its speed and movement, while strikers are loving the extra power it appears to offer.
The ball has already made an impact in the 2. Bundesliga, with 22 goals scored across the opening six games, fueling expectations that we could see plenty more goals this season.
HSV goalkeeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes says the Adidas ball travels faster than the previous Derbystar, giving goalkeepers less time to react.
Nürnberg goalkeeper Jan Reichert also believes its harder surface produces a different trajectory and allows attackers to generate more speed, particularly from long range.
Meanwhile, Dresden striker Jakob Lemme described the ball as a “nightmare for goalkeepers”, saying it can move unpredictably from side to side. Paderborn forward Stefano Marino also praised it, saying players can strike the ball with greater power without sending it far over the goal.
Goalkeepers may have a new problem on their hands… while strikers could be licking their lips.
Could the new Torfabrik lead to a record-breaking goal-filled season?
