European Football Weekend Wrap-up

As the season comes to an end with most Leagues already having a Champion, Clubs are now looking to Solidify their place in Next Season’s UEFA European Competitions.

The closing weeks of the English premier league has proven eventful with just 2 games to go and one more for league leaders Arsenal after a strong performance in the 1-0 win of Manchester United at Old Trafford as Manchester City beat Fulham 4-0 in London to keep a firm hand on the title.

Chelsea came from behind to beat Nottingham Forest 3-2 as Tottenham beat Burnley 2-1 in their first win in 5 matches while Liverpool travel to Aston Villa on Monday. With Arsenal’s last game against Everton and Manchester City still having to play Tottenham and West Ham, the league title will most likely go down to the wire if none of these teams drop points.

Real Madrid beat Granada 4-0 just before being officially crowned Laliga Champions for the 35th time in the club’s history while Atletico Madrid kept it late to win 1-0 against Celta. Barcelona will play Real Sociedad on Monday.

In Serie A, Juventus were held to a 1-1 draw adding to their already disappointing campaign as Atalanta beat Roma 2-1 and Napoli lost 2-0 again to Bologna at home. AC Milan celebrated mothers Day with a 5-1 home win at home against Cagliari.

German Champions Bayer Leverkusen completed their 50th unbeaten game streak after a 5-0 thumping of Bochum. Bayern Munich were back to winning ways as they overcame Wolfsburg 2-0. RB Leipzig were held 1-1 at home by Werder Bremen as Champions League Finalists Borussia Dortmund fell 3-0 to relegation threatened Mainz.

The French League witnessed Kylian Mbappe’s last ever game for French Champions PSG at the Parc des princes as Toulouse ran a 3-1 riot on the Parisians.
