Liverpool Appoint Arne Slot As New Manager

Liverpool has appointed Dutch manager Arne Slot as new head coach. Slot formally signs his contract as Jurgen Klopp’s replacement and is unveiled today.

Slot who coached Feyernoord last season, secured the Dutch Cup in April and led them to their first league title in six years. The Reds initially wanted Xabi Alonso at the helm of Anfield but he chose to stay one more season at Bayer Leverkusen. Slot emerged as the preferred candidate for the job after months of searching following Klopp’s planned departure since January.

The Dutchman signed a 3 year contract and will start his role on June 1 after the departure of Jurgen Klopp over the weekend and as part of the change of personnels going on in Anfield, Thiago Alcantara will leave Liverpool at the end of the season as well as Joe Matip after spending 8 years at the club with more rotations to follow as the dutch manager looks to strengthen his squad for next season and compete against the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal for the English top flight.
