La Liga Racism: Fan Sentenced To Prison For Abusing Samuel Chukwueze and Vinicius Jr.

A Mallorca fan who racially abused both Samuel Chukwueze and Vinicius Junior has been handed a one-year prison sentence and a three years stadium ban as punishment by a spanish court.

Racial abuse against players is an issue that has plagued La Liga for a long time.

Vinicius has condemned the Spanish top flight for facilitating abuse rather than attempting to properly stamp it out, and the Real Madrid star has opened up many times about feeling 'targeted' by racist fans across the country.

The offender was handed a six-month sentence for abusing Vinicius Junior at a match between Mallorca and Real Madrid on February 5, 2023, and an additional six-month sentence for racially abusing Chukwueze at the same stadium on February 18 that year, in a match between Mallorca and Villareal.

On top of that prison time, he has received a three-year Spanish football stadium ban.
