Official: England Appoint Tuchel As Manager.

England has appointed former Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel as their new manager. Tuchel who led Bayern to a disastrous campaign last season, missing out on the title after 11 consecutive seasons had previously managed Borussia Dortmund, PSG and Chelsea where he won the UEFA Champions League in his first season.

Tuchel was heavily linked to replacing Erik Ten Hagg at Manchester United in the past few months but has decided on taking the England job vacated by Gareth Southgate in July after England’s defeat to Spain in the Euro 2024 final.

The German becomes only the 3rd non British manager after Sven-Goran Eriksson and Fabio Capello.

Tuchel said in his opening remarks as the new England manager “I am very proud to have been given the honour of leading the England team. I have long felt a personal connection to the game in this country, and it has given me some incredible moments already.

To have the chance to represent England is a huge privilege, and the opportunity to work with this special and talented group of players is very exciting."

The German would take over the national team in January 2025.
