European Football Weekend Roundup

The last round of Football before the Christmas break for most European leagues proved eventful.

The English Premier League kicked off with Manchester City’s trip to Aston Villa in a 2-1 defeat for Pep Guardiola’s men.

Arsenal thrashed Crystal Palace 5-1 in the London derby as Manchester United had a disappointing day with a 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth at Old Trafford.

Chelsea were held to a goalless draw with Everton as Liverpool put up a fantastic display in their 6-3 victory over Tottenham Hotspur to maintain first place.

Laliga seems to be heating up with Barcelona losing first position after a disappointing 2-1 loss to Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid edged out Sevilla 4-2 as Villarreal solidified their fight for a European spot with a 5-2 victory over Leganes, Valencia drew 2-2 with Alaves. Girona edged out Valladolid 3-0.

Bundesliga was back with Bayer Leverkusen thrashing Freiburg 5-1, Borussia Dortmund defeated Wolfsburg 3-1 as Bayern Munich ran riot with a 5-1 victory over Liepzig.

In Italy, Napoli tightened their grip in first place with a 2-1 win over Genoa, Lazio also edged out Lecce 2-1. As Roma thrashed Parma 5-0 at home, Ademola Lookman was on target again as Atalanta edged Empoli 3-2. Juventus carved out a 2-1 victory over Monza.
