Wike’s PDP Faction Ousts Governors, Dismantles Party Structure
A fresh conflict has erupted within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the faction headed by Nyesom Wike removed Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, and several others from the party rolls. Alongside these dismissals, the group also abolished the leadership in Oyo, Bauchi, Ekiti, Zamfara, Edo, and Lagos State.
Party insiders claim the actions were triggered by accusations of disloyalty and consistent defiance of internal agreements.
It is alleged that the deposed state executives undermined party goals and cooperated with rival forces, prompting a call for immediate restructuring across the affected regions.
The dramatic decision followed emergency sessions led by the Wike-aligned National Executive Committee (NEC), with leaders insisting radical steps were needed to “revitalize and reorganize” the PDP in troubled states.
The expelled officials are said to be considering legal and political recourse.
In response, different factions have condemned the shakeup, labelling it “unlawful and disruptive,” and signalling possible retaliation soon.
This turmoil has cast doubts over the PDP’s stability, leaving the party fractured and its future uncertain as further confrontations loom.
