The nominees for the 17th Headies Awards were announced today, marking the iconic music awards’ highly anticipated return to Nigeria after being hosted in the U.S. for the past two years. The ceremony is scheduled for April 5, 2025, at the Eko Convention Centre in Lagos, celebrating African music releases from April 1, 2023, to July 31, 2024.

Rookie of the Year features rising stars Zerrydl, Taves, Kaestyle, and Llona, all vying for the coveted title in a category spotlighting Afrobeats’ freshest talents.

In the fiercely competitive Best Recording of the Year category, Tems’ Burning, Seyi Vibez’s Different Pattern, and Burna Boy’s Higher lead the pack, alongside collaborations like Ayra Starr and Giveon’s Last Heartbreak Song and Sarz and Lojay’s Billions.
