Oceangate submersible yet-to-be found

An international search and rescue effort is underway to try and locate and retrieve a tourist submersible owned by OceanGate, a company that organizes expeditions to the site of the Titanic wreckage.

The submersible lost contact with the main ship an hour and forty-five minutes into the dive to the Titanic wreck site. The Titanic wreck site sits almost 13,000 feet deep in the ocean.

The company charges $250,000 for a trip and has a lot of safety measures in case of any problem, but all safety measures seem to have failed. There are speculations that the ocean current might have pushed the sub miles away, and it might've emerged from the depths of the ocean, or it might've reached the ocean floor and failed to come up.

The US Coast Guard is leading the search for the sub along with the US Navy, Canadian armed forces, and private companies. The french have also sent assets to aid the search and rescue effort.

If the sub is indeed at the ocean floor with the titanic it'll pose a major challenge in rescue operations because there are very few vehicles capable of reaching such depths, even the US Navy will struggle to reach that depth though they might have a means of retrieving the sub. Oxygen levels left in the sub are estimated to last less than forty hours.
