UK Government Concludes Israel Not Committing Genocide in Gaza

The UK government has formally concluded that Israel is not committing genocide in Gaza, following a review of legal assessments and international obligations.

In a statement released, British officials confirmed that after examining the situation in Gaza through diplomatic channels, legal analysis, and intelligence assessments, the government does not find grounds to classify Israel’s military actions as genocide.

The conclusion comes amid ongoing international debate and legal challenges at the International Court of Justice, where accusations of genocide have been raised by several countries.

London emphasized that while it remains “deeply concerned” about the humanitarian crisis and the civilian toll of the conflict, the threshold for genocide under international law has not been met.

Officials underscored that the UK continues to support Israel’s right to self-defense but stressed the need for operations to be carried out in accordance with international humanitarian law.

The government also reiterated its call for urgent humanitarian aid access to Gaza and for progress on a long-term political solution to the conflict.
