The Israeli military has announced a daily "tactical pause" in military activity along a road in southern Gaza to facilitate humanitarian aid entry. These pauses will last from 08:00 to 19:00 local time until further notice, affecting only the route from the Kerem Shalom crossing to the European Hospital near Khan Younis.
Despite these pauses, there is no ceasefire in southern Gaza, and combat will continue in Rafah, where Israeli troops have ordered evacuations and taken control of the Rafah crossing with Egypt. Israel claims its operation in Rafah is necessary to oust Hamas.
International agencies have warned of severe humanitarian conditions in Gaza, with the World Health Organization noting significant hunger. The number of aid trucks entering Gaza remains well below the needed level, with May averaging 97 trucks daily, compared to 500 before the conflict began.
