Threats, violence cast shadow over US presidential race.

Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are heading into an intense phase of the US presidential campaign after a second assassination attempt on Trump on Sunday.

The suspect, Ryan Wesley Routh, was arrested and investigated by the FBI and despite the incident, Trump’s campaign is set to continue with little interruption but these recent incidents has inarguably cast a shadow over the upcoming presidential elections.

The incident on Sunday on Donald Trump's Florida golf course came the same day as more bomb threats poured into Springfield, Ohio, a small Midwestern city at the centre of Republican-led conspiracies against immigrants with authorities still yet to identify a specific motive or political ideology for the shooter behind the previous attempt on Trump's life at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania back in July.

Tech billionaire/Trump supporter Elon Musk faced criticism after he posted, and then deleted, on his social media platform X a question asking why no one had tried to kill Biden or Harris. Adding to the country's acrimonious political atmosphere, Trump posted on his Truth Social website that "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!".

The Musician posted a message on her Instagram after Tuesday's debate saying she would be voting for Harris, calling her a "steady, handed, gifted leader." and although Celebrity endorsements rarely carry enormous weight but the hugely popular Musician is seen as being in a class of her own, with more than 400 million followers across her social media (10 million of whom "liked" her Instagram post)

The race between Trump and Harris remains tight across the battleground states that will decide the election in arguably one of the most crucial times in the country’s history.
