Restoring security in the South East: The senator Ifeanyi Ubah approach

Driving through Nnewi with some friends early in the day, we saw some armed men all in a very long motor cade. When we went close to engage these battleready armed youths in a conversation to ask whom those men were, we finally got to know that it was Senator Ifeanyi Ubah who was elected on the platform of Young Progressive Party to represent the people of Anambra South and his security team. Remember that this Senator had survived an assassination attempt on him in Anambra State which took the lives of some of his close aides.

For anyone who has been following up the political developments in the South East for some years now, you cannot deny not being informed of a particular propaganda radio station called Radio Biafra which has perpetually latched onto the established grievances of the Igbo people against a Federal government led by APC that clearly stated that the Igbos were not going to be treated as equals to other tribes in Nigeria during their tenure, to whip up very mean sentiments against the Nigerian State, which the Igbo people are paying for dearly now.

The whole underdevelopment of the South East which the political elites and the many citizens of the South East who have refused to hold the political class accountable, have been the bane of all these agitations that has never made the South East better at any time, as we seem to be worse than when they initially started the agitation.

The agitation is the reason why Mondays in many South Eastern States have been converted to a resting day as it is called a sit at home day. This sit at home was initiated and sustained with the spilling of the innocent blood of so many Igbo indigenes whose brothers and sisters who claimed to be fighting for their liberation spilled carelessly.

Unfortunately for the South East the Biafra agitation has developed into a fullblown criminal enterprise such that folks are paid to destabilize the South East region by cashing in on the fear of the masses who seem helpless in the face of insecurity, to give all sorts of senseless orders online.

Lately a faceless group has ordered that all across the South East for the next one week, that no one should be seen outside their various houses for any reason for these days. It is heart warming to see that men with very strong will like Senator Ifeanyi Ubah has dared the criminals with his team to dare to step a foot on Nnewi soil and risk being mauled to t he ground in milliseconds. We must not allow these criminals to desecrate our land as a people.
