Emirates Set to Accept Bitcoin for Flight Bookings
Emirates, one of the world’s largest airlines, is preparing to allow customers to pay for flight bookings using Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, following a landmark partnership with global digital asset platform Crypto.com.
The new payment option is expected to launch next year, marking a major step in the airline industry’s adoption of digital currencies.
Emirates has announced a collaboration with Crypto.com to integrate cryptocurrency payments into its booking system.
This move will let passengers use Bitcoin and other digital assets to purchase tickets and services, reflecting the airline’s commitment to innovation and meeting evolving customer demands.
The crypto payment option is scheduled to become available in 2026, pending regulatory approval and successful technical integration.
The initiative is designed to attract younger, tech-savvy travelers and aligns with Dubai’s vision to become a global hub for financial innovation.
Emirates and Crypto.com have also emphasized their commitment to security and regulatory compliance, working closely with Dubai’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA).
Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, said the partnership demonstrates the airline’s dedication to providing customers with more flexibility and choice in how they transact.
Eric Anziani, President and COO of Crypto.com, highlighted that the collaboration would help drive mainstream adoption of digital assets in the travel sector.
If successful, Emirates’ crypto payment initiative could pave the way for broader adoption of digital currencies across the global aviation and tourism industries, further cementing Dubai’s reputation as a leader in financial and technological innovation.
