Hollywood writers reach deal with studios to end 5 month strike.

The Writers Guild of America (WGA) has struck a deal with studio bosses after nearly five months of strike. Hollywood writers went on strike on the 2nd of May after their demands of compensation, use of artificial intelligence, residual payments, etc.

The union announced it had agreed on a deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), the group that represents studios, streaming services, and producers.

The strike had cost a host of deals, postponement, and cancellation of shows. The Emmys were moved from September to January, late-night talk shows had been suspended ever since the striker began, and a lot of TV shows including Stranger Things, Superman: Legacy, and Deadpool 3 were halted.

The economic cost of the striker is estimated to be at least $5billion. Meanwhile, SAG-AFTRA, the union that represents actors remains on strike as they're yet to reach a deal with studios.
