Dozens of people have been confirmed killed after an explosion ripped through a procession for the late Iranian general Qasem Soleimani, who was killed in a drone strike by the US in Iraq.
The explosion happened near the Saheb al-Zaman mosque in the southern city of Kerman. The Iranian government has called it a terrorist attack. Two explosions were recorded, and the death toll stands at 73 as of this moment, according to Babak Yektaparast, a spokesperson for Iran's emergency services, with 171 injured people.
The death toll is expected to rise further as medics try to save as many lives as possible. It is not yet known who might be behind the attack, but all eyes will be on Israel, though it's unlikely the Israelis had anything to gain by killing random Iranian civilians.
The Israelis are believed to be on the hunt for high-profile Hamas targets across the region, and so far, no prominent Hamas or IRGC figure is known to have died in the blast.
