U.S launches massive airstrikes across Syria and Iraq

The United States military has carried out dozens of airstrikes in retaliation for the three American soldiers killed on Sunday.

US Central Command said in a statement released on X, At 4:00 p.m. Feb. 02, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces conducted airstrikes in Iraq and Syria against Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds Force and affiliated militia groups.

U.S. military forces struck more than 85 targets, with numerous aircraft to include long-range bombers flown from United States. The airstrikes employed more than 125 precision munitions."
 
The strikes come a few hours after the US president, along with the first lady, Jill Biden, and other senior staff in the US military, attended a ceremony returning the bodies of the fallen US soldiers at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.
 
President Joe Biden also confirmed the strikes in a statement, saying, "This afternoon, at my direction, US military forces struck targets at facilities in Iraq and Syria that the IRGC [Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps] and affiliated militia use to attack US forces."
