President Donald Trump suggested the Strait of Hormuz could be jointly controlled by the US and Iran after a possible regime change in Tehran.
He claimed such a change could happen automatically, saying current leaders have been removed and new figures are emerging.
Trump hinted that he is already engaging with individuals he described as “reasonable” and influential within Iran.
He suggested these figures could become future leaders or key decision-makers in a post-regime government.
His comments, including comparisons to Venezuela, are likely to spark debate due to the Strait’s importance to global oil supply and regional sovereignty.
