Super Eagles drop to 38th in FIFA rankings

Nigeria has seen a dropped from 30th to number 38 in the latest FIFA rankings released.

Although the super eagles performed well in the Africa Cup Of Nations final in early 2024 in which they finished runners up to host Nation Cote d'Ivoire who rank just a place above.

This sporadic fall has been largely due to the Nation’s run of form in the 2026 World cup qualifiers as it is now increasingly more likely that they might not qualify for the 2026 editions in the USA just as they failed to in 2022.

Current World Champions Argentina retain first place followed by the 2022 FIFA world cup runner up France, with Belgium going up to third followed by Brazil in fourth place as England drop to fifth.

Morocco comes first as the best ranked team in Africa sitting in number 12 in the world rankings.

Former African Champions Senegal comes second in number 18 Followed by Egypt in number 36 before Ivory Coast and then Nigeria making the five best footballing nations in Africa according to Football’s governing body, FIFA.
