Super Eagles camp comes alive as seven players arrive in Uyo.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have begun assembling in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, in preparation for their crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda.

Seven players arrived at the team’s camp on Monday morning, marking the beginning of an intense preparation phase.

Leading the early arrivals was Captain William Troost-Ekong, who currently plays in Saudi Arabia. He was joined by Nottingham Forest’s Taiwo Awoniyi and Ola Aina, West Brom defender Semi Ajayi, Italy-based Ademola Lookman, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, and Olisa Ndah of Orlando Pirates.

Their timely arrival reflects a strong commitment to the team’s objectives and a readiness to put in the necessary effort to achieve success.

Following a disappointing start to their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, where they are yet to secure a win in four matches, the Super Eagles are determined to make a significant impact in the AFCON qualifiers.

Austin Eguavoen, chairman of the NFF’s technical committee, has stepped in as interim coach for these crucial games, with support from Daniel Ogunmodede of Remo Stars and Fidelis Ilechukwu of Enugu Rangers.

The NFF has called up 23 players for the doubleheader, with the rest of the squad expected to join the camp shortly.

As the team gears up for these decisive matches, the Super Eagles camp is set to become a hub of rigorous training and preparation.

With qualification for next year’s Nations Cup in Morocco in their sights, the team is more determined than ever to succeed.
