Israel claims it killed senior Hezbollah commander in strike on Beirut.

Hezbollah confirmed early Wednesday that its senior commander, Fuad Shukr, was in a building in Beirut's southern suburbs hit by an Israeli airstrike.

The group, however, did not disclose Shukr's condition or confirm if he survived the attack.

The Israeli military announced late Tuesday that it had targeted and allegedly killed Shukr, describing him as Hezbollah's most senior commander.

The strike comes after Israel blamed Shukr for orchestrating a recent attack in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, which resulted in the deaths of a dozen youths.

The incident has escalated tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, raising concerns of further violence in the region.
