Ukraine Strikes Key Russian Oil Refinery in Rostov Region with Storm Shadow Missiles

Ukraine claims it has struck the Novoshakhtinsk oil products refinery in Russia’s Rostov region using air-launched Storm Shadow cruise missiles, marking a major blow to an energy facility supplying Russian forces.

Ukraine’s military said on Thursday that its air forces targeted and successfully struck the Novoshakhtinsk refinery, located in Russia’s Rostov region, with Storm Shadow cruise missiles.

Multiple explosions were reported at the site after the attack, indicating a direct hit on the facility.

The refinery, one of the largest in southern Russia, has a storage capacity of more than 210,000 cubic meters and plays a key role in supplying diesel and aviation fuel to Russian military units engaged in the war against Ukraine.

Videos circulating on social media showed thick plumes of smoke rising above the industrial complex, though Russian officials have not yet confirmed the extent of the damage.

Local authorities reported no casualties but said emergency services were working to contain fires at the site.

The strike underscores Kyiv’s growing ability to hit strategic targets deep inside Russian territory using Western-supplied long-range weapons such as the British-made Storm Shadow missiles.
