Europe's surprise packages - Part 1

Napoli is one of Europe's surprise package of the season. They have been superb in Serie A, topped their champions league group and have 2-0 first leg advantage over their RO16 opponent, Eintracht Frankfurt. Internazionale Milano, colloquially known as Inter Milan, loss to in form Bologna on Sunday meant Napoli hold on to their lead at the top of serie A table.

Indeed Napoli are on course to win their first scudetto in 33 years and third in history. This brilliant squad of players have been relentless and disciplined. Luciano Spalletti has put together a team that is dreaded across Europe. led by the dynamic duo of record signing Victor Osimhen and Georgian Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, this two have formed what is arguably the most lethal duo in Europe.

Much credit has gone to their attacking line up which also includes Hirving Lozano and Giacomo Raspadori but their defensive set up led by South Korean Kim Min-jae has been just as important as their forward line up. Kim Min-jae performance so far this season has made the loss of Kalidou Koulibaly to Chelsea not to be felt. He has been steadfast and solid at the back along with Amir Rrahmani.

The midfield combo of Cameroonian Zambo Anguissa, Piotr Zieliński, Elif Elmas and the relentless Stanislav Lobotka has given Napoli a solid dominance in midfield. Anguissa brings a calm and balance to the midfield, Lobotka presses and wins the ball a lot and with the incredible Zieliński and Elmas Napoli is one of the most complete teams in Europe.

Top teams are already looking to swoop in on Napoli's top talents and keeping them this summer will be a difficult task. Napoli's president, Aurelio De Laurentiis has said he's keen on keeping his top players but isn't ruling out anything. Napoli indeed have built a team that could not just win the serie A title but fight for the champions league this season and who knows, they might become a powerhouse not just in Italian football but in European football.
