City thrash Liverpool to steady their chase after Arsenal

City thrash Liverpool in Etihad thriller
It was almost a walk in the park for the Cityzens at Etihad as they thrashed Liverpool 4-1. It was all city at the start of the game. Despite that, Salah opened the goal chart after Diogo Jota beat City's offside trap, setting Mo Salah for the opener.

It was a day to forget for the Reds. Sloppy defending and lack of control in the midfield area cost them dearly. City dominated the game all through, from the start to the finish. They had more possession and more attempt on goal.

Despite the absence of League top scorer Erling Haaland, City were still able to score with ease, with Alvarez stepping up along with Grealish, Kevin De Bruyne and İlkay Gündoğan all on the score sheet.

Up next for Liverpool is Chelsea, then a game at home to league leaders Arsenal while City have Southampton at St Mary's Stadium, next week Saturday. Manchester city have a busy schedule this month, with a champions league game against German giants, Bayern Munich coming up next week, City will be looking to be firing on all fronts so as to finish the season on a high.

City's win over Liverpool sends a message to Arsenal that they're still right behind them and have no intention of giving up on the title race and it sends a message to Bayern Munich that they're indeed ready for next week's Champions League game.
