With Lazio's defeat at the hands of Inter Milan, Napoli needed a win to secure their third Serie A title and a first since 1990 when Argentine and football legend Diego Maradona led the team to their second scudetto but they were held by Salernitana.
Coming against Udinese, Napoli needed to get a point at least to confirm their place as winners of the scudetto and that they did. Victor Osimhen levelled for the visitors after a first half strike by Lovric on the 13th minute.
It has been one hell of a season for this brilliant team, and it has been a spectacular ride for the football loving city of Naples. Pictures and videos of the city filled with beautiful regalia, dancing troupers, and celebrations of all kinds swarmed the internet ahead of their clash with Salernitana, but that celebration was put on hold.
The celebrations were delayed but not denied. It has been a long time coming for the men of Naples, but they finally got the task done. Led by the scintillating Nigerian forward, Victor Osimhen and Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia Napoli finally achieved their goal.
Massive credits must go to coach Luciano Spalletti, who kept the team together and kept spirits high and motivated all through the season even after the Champions League exit.
Napoli are deservedly Italian Champions, and they'll relish the moment.
