Iran, Russia Sign $25 Billion Nuclear Power Plant Deal

Iran and Russia have signed a major $25 billion agreement for the construction of four nuclear power plants in Iran, marking a significant expansion of the country’s energy infrastructure.

The deal, finalized by Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization and Russia’s Rosatom, will see the new plants built in the Sirik region of Hormozgan Province.

These advanced facilities are expected to deliver a combined 5,000 megawatts of electricity, addressing persistent energy shortages and supporting Iran’s goal to reach 20GW of nuclear capacity by 2040.

The partnership builds on Russia’s previous involvement in Iran’s only operational nuclear power plant at Bushehr.

The project comes as Iran faces renewed international sanctions tied to its nuclear activities, but officials said cooperation will continue, emphasizing peaceful energy and technological progress.
