Container ship Knocks down a bridge in Baltimore

Container ship knocks down a bridge in Baltimore.
A Singapore-flagged ship, named Dali, that was bound for Colombo, Sri Lanka, hit the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland, in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The collision caused the bridge to collapse on Tuesday around 01:30 EST. Emergency crews, including federal, state, and local assets, are on scene conducting search and rescue and trying to determine what caused the collision.

Maryland Governor Wes Moore has declared a state of emergency, while the fire department has declared "a mass casualty event." Two people have been rescued, and six people are believed to still be in the water.

Maryland Transportation Secretary Paul Wiedefeld said workers were repairing potholes on the bridge at the time of the collapse. The FBI has so far ruled out terrorism as the cause of the collision.
