Strike Damascus kills senior IRGC commander.

An alleged Israeli strike on a building said to be linked to the Iranian consulate in Damascus has killed Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a senior member of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.
 
Iranian state media also reported the deaths of several diplomats. Pictures and videos emerging from the Syrian capital show a destroyed building and smoke billowing from the site of the attack.
 
Syria's foreign minister, Faisal Mekdad, and the Iranian ambassador in Damascus, Hossein Akbari, have visited the scene of the attack and condemned the strike. Tehran's ambassador also promised a "harsh" response to the attack.
 
The Israeli military has so far refused to comment on the alleged strike, which isn't unusual because the IDF rarely ever admits to such attacks. The White House has confirmed that President Biden is aware of the unfolding situation.
