Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit North Korea, the Kremlin has confirmed, ending months of speculation.
The visit follows an invitation from Kim Jong Un after his armoured train trip through Russia's Far East last year.
This will be Putin's second visit to North Korea, the first being in 2000 when Kim's father, Kim Jong Il, was in power.
Why now?
The timing of this visit is crucial. Amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Russia is looking for reliable allies and resources.
North Korea has been one of its allies in the war, showing support, and this visit would focus on how both countries can benefit from each other, both militarily and economically.
This evolving relationship is moving from pleasantries to strategic cooperation.
