The Future Stars of Football

The 2024 season is officially over and With most prominent stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Toni Kroos either retiring or leaving europe for less demanding leagues, the space has opened up for the next generation of football talents to shine as the battle for Football’s next best player commences.

Certain stars like Kylian Mbappe, Erling Halaand, Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham have cemented their place as future Ballon D’or contenders but no doubt this would be one of the most uncertain times in the history of footballing awards after over 15 years of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi dominance in the sport. We’ve compiled a list of names that have lit up the footballing world over the last 12 months and are gearing towards more greatness.

Cole Palmer; After leaving Manchester City last summer to sign for Chelsea in a £50m deal, Palmer has seen nothing but individual success at his new club, quickly becoming their most valuable player with 25 goals and 15 assist in his first season at the club. The Englishman also earned his first International call up to the senior squad while finishing as the Premier League’s highest goal contributor with 33 G/A as he guided Chelsea to the Caraboa Cup final and a spot in European football next season. Even with Chelsea’s poor run of form during the season, the youngster has shown he is one of the best players in the world at the moment behind only a few as he picked up the best young player award in the Premier League as well as the Writers association best player award.

Phil Foden; At just 24, the Manchester City midfielder has seen so many success than any other player his age. Guiding City to a fourth consecutive Premier League title and his sixth overall, Foden has been named the only untouchable player in the city squad by manager Pep Guadiola, stating at no point or under any circumstance should he be allowed to be sold. Named as the Premier League Player of the Season, Foden had 27 combined goals and assists in the Premier League in 2023-24 as city also reached the Champions League quarter final and the FA Cup final. There’s no doubt that Phil Foden will appear in this year’s Ballon D’or shortlist as a possible contender and there’s even more certainty that with more performance like this season, he will win it one day.
