The Future Stars of Football II

Lamine Yamal: It would be hard for most to believe the Spanish forward is just having his debut season after becoming a household name so quickly with 5 goals in 38 first team appearance in his first season- a stat which greatly undermines his influence and brilliance for the team, he had proven to be a very pivotal player for FC Barcelona this season as he signed his first professional contract and also got his first call up to the Spanish national team becoming their youngest ever debutant and goal scorer at just 16, now the teenager is making waves at the Euros as one of Spain’s star player. This has definitely been a fast paced year for the 16 year old who admits to still only being in high school but has shown profound maturity on and off the pitch as he’s tipped to win this year’s Golden boy prize as the best teenage player in the world.

Florian Wirtz: The 21 year old German youngster guided Bayer Leverkusen to a first Bundesliga title, the DFB Pokal, as well as a 51 game unbeaten streak which unfortunately ended after losing the Europa League final against Atalanta, if anything he proved to be a pivotal player in a team that has gone on to defile all odds of football. With 18 goals and 19 assists in the 2023/24 season, the German midfielder turned around a season that started with a career threatening injury and cemented his place in the German squad for the Euros as he scored in Germany’s first game.

Alejandro Garnacho: Inarguably the biggest star for Manchester United this season, the 19 year old Argentine has shown but just a glimpse of just why he his considered the future of the Manchester club. With 7 goal and 4 assists, these numbers can barely quantify his impact on the pitch for a poor performing United side. His fantastic goal led United to an FA Cup victory over Manchester City and he has received a call up for the Argentina national team heading to the Copa America as favourites.
